Regional Climate Workshops
Talking Circle led a team in designing community engagement and co-facilitating a series of Regional Climate Workshops in June 2024, engaging 22 Elders, harvesters, and youth community members in facilitated discussions, presentations, and graphic recordings. A follow-up workshop with Indigenous government staff was dedicated to prioritizing the community-driven climate change readiness actions. The workshop series gathered insights the priorities of connection to land, language, culture and way of life. Presentations and small group discussions focussed on environmental changes, community health and well-being, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Recommendations were developed for internal governance and Nation-to-Nation dialogue. Jessica collaborated with government staff to prepare comprehensive What We Heard reporting integrated bilingual translation/transcripts, visual storytelling, and community-driven priorities to support actionable climate strategies developed by, for, and with community members.
